One small step for mankind, one giant slap for assholes

Recently I notice a trend. Teenagers (who seem synonymous with assholes) going around with music players that play audible, even loud, music. Not on the sidewalk, rather on trains and buses. Yes, that is annoying.

I let one such anime-looking cretin, with what could could be described as hideous spiky hair tinted brown and the sort of faux self-esteem that screams "look at me, I will need a penis enlargement" get away on the MRT once.

Today, it was the bus. Female version of above-mentioned teenage cretin playing loud music (Where was it coming from? It was a Nano with headphones. Did her empty head amplify the music?). The last straw of course was that she was playing.... R&B. Which is one step above Hip-hop in my musical hierarchy.

I leaned over and this is what happened:

Me: Is that your music?
She: Yeah (a little diffident)
Me: Could you please turn it down?

Guess what? It worked. Wonderfully. Especially now that I am an adult. That is the beauty of a culture like Singapore, you only have to speak up, but no one usually does.

PS: "Teenagers" are a much hyped artificial class of humans created mostly through the efforts of 20th century marketing. Let us not give them any more undue leeway. To put it in their lingua - fuck 'em.
