Here kitty kitty

Speaking of cats, I am reminded of their abundance in Turkey. Perhaps because it is a Muslim country, I saw a dog only once, a German Shepherd I think, at the carpet shop near my hotel. But there were cats everywhere. There were cats lolling about the well-manicured lawns at Topkapi. There was even a cat curled up by the large marble urn on the right side of the main hall of the Blue Mosque, or Aya Sofya as it is now called. Just off the famous market-alley atop the famous Roman tiles, a cat lounging langrously on a restaurant seat. I toyed with it until it my food arrived and it started taking the kinds of liberty that was denied to half of humanity till recent decades. I gave it the boot.
