Tokyo has THE best possible and friendliest public transport - and I have used only 2 of 3 subway systems, and not even boarded a bus yet.
As I got off the airport express and took the local train, I wondered if I'd be arrested - for my fare was to Shibuya, the Express does not stop in Meguro.
Sure enough flashing lights and loud beeps informed me I could not exit.
Turn left, notice the "fare adjustment machine", slot ticket, pay a diifference and get out - and it's not as if I had done this anywhere else, for no one is as smart as the Japanese.
How much easier could it get??!!
